Stoos Lodge

The design of the Stoos Lodge combines urban sophistication with a warm, inviting atmosphere – consciously departing from the familiar clichés of traditional mountain hotels.

Clean lines and locally sourced woods meet simple, high-quality craftsmanship. Traditional elements have been reinterpreted – such as historical silver ornaments from Central Switzerland, which have been enlarged and embedded into the corridor walls.

A special highlight is the fully glazed Mythen Lounge, where a large neon light installation recalls the Stoos legend of the talking cat.

Located at the terminus of the world's steepest funicular railway, the Stoos Lodge offers 101 rooms and suites, as well as spacious dining areas, play and recreation rooms for children, a daycare center, a fitness studio, and modern seminar rooms.

Sustainability plays a central role: The funicular railway's advanced recuperation technology contributes significantly to the building's energy supply.

Tradition meets innovation – at the Stoos Lodge.

I was privileged to help shape this project as part of the interior design team at the Zurich-based architecture and design studio IDA14. I had the opportunity to actively support project management, the development of the overall concept, the material and color scheme, and the furniture and lighting concept.
